Plough Steering, try start again
Parked 2008 S40 5 days ago, no problems. Today, when my son was leaving for school, steering wheel is not locked, inserted key, turned to position 3 and nothing. Got the message "Turn Steering, try commencement again." Tried that and nothing. Noticed the following: When the central is turned to 1 and ii, all dash light and headlights come on. At three, the headlights become off, the arm residue buttons get off and but Check ENGINE stays on. Once the key is released, all indicators and headlights come back on. OBD shows no codes. At that place is a "turn-bespeak" sound in the lower steering column expanse and a clicking nether the hood. I reviewed all related posts I could find hither and most related to a locked steering bicycle. Mine is not locked. Put my Schumacher battery tester/charger on it and initially read 11.vii volts. Charged it for 1 hour and it reads 13.5. Still no start. Any ideas will be more than than greatly appreciated.

After the battery charge and with practiced bombardment voltage endeavor a battery reset. Disconnect the basis cablevision and touch on it to the pos post or last for 5 seconds and then reconnect. Take the ignition off and key out for 5 minutes before you lot practise this.
If this works so you lot may have only had a low voltage trouble taking a module offline. That machine doesn't actually have the electric column lock pin due to constabulary changes eliminating the requirement but information technology has the module to hold its place in the network structure. The message can occur on others when the lock is physically blocked but on your car it is module error. Engine start is blocked if the system thinks you tin can't turn bike, truthful or not.

Just yesterday my 2008 S40 did the exact aforementioned thing. You described information technology to a "T". All the noises and clicking. I tried the disconnecting negative and touching the positive for 5seconds and nothing happened. I likewise tried my other fundamental. I am non hearing my ignition "accept" or "lockin". When I insert the fundamental. Y'all know the distint audio of the key locking in. Any more than help or suggestions would exist not bad.
Drove it to work with no warnings or issues and eight hrs later.... Nothing.

I would try to turn the bike and remove the key until the steering wheel locks, then insert the key to unlock the wheel over again. On the older cars when we had issues similar this, locking and unlocking the doors with a primal iii times oft cleared the immobilizer. I don't accept a inkling if that'south information technology or not, but it's worth a endeavour as well.
